For growers large and small, brewing plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) on-site can be advantageous, both economically and functionally.
On-site brewing is a unique offering from BluePlanet, which can provide the equipment, training and, of course, the bacteria and nutrients, to help you do it successfully. Our brewing process is far more than just rehydrating dry powder bacillus products. Our bioreactor system promotes rapid PGPB growth and enhanced enzyme production, providing significantly improved performance.
Let’s take a look at some of the other benefits of brewing bacteria on site, and how to get started.
As the makeup of BluePlanet products includes large amounts of water, shipping costs can be high, especially for large operations. When we’re talking about hundreds or even thousands of gallons, the costs can be astronomical. For a fraction of the cost, we can ship our products in dry powder form along with a few gallons of startup liquid, creating a much more viable product with enhanced enzyme performance for your operation.
The equipment needed for brewing is straightforward and many of our partners already have the key components. Those include a brewing container (we’ve worked with operations using everything from 55-gallon drums to 10,000-gallon tanks), heater, and aerator with diffuser.
For very large operations with multiple brewing stations, electronic metering is also available.
When we brew bacteria for our ready-to-use jugs, in simple terms, we have to put our bacteria to sleep so they don’t run out of food before they’re used. So when the product is applied, it can take a little while for the bacteria to re-energize and get to work breaking down essential nutrients for your plants.
In an on-site brewing scenario, bacteria are ready to go immediately. They are voracious and looking for nutrients. The bacteria counts are also much higher and while they’re brewing, they become climatized to your environment, optimizing their effectiveness for your specific application.
Though on-site brewing equipment is incredibly cost-effective in the long run, you should weigh the operating cost against the cost of shipping ready-to-use BluePlanet product.
For a typical home garden scenario, ready-to-use products are the best bet, though we’ve helped small gardeners brew on site as well. The value of your crops is also a factor—small operations involving high-value crops might still benefit from on-site brewing because they’re looking to create the best return.
BluePlanet can help with setup, use and maintenance. We create a custom protocol for each of our partners and help to fine-tune every system for the best results. And taking care of on-site brewing equipment is simple. If you can maintain a goldfish tank, you can handle this with ease.
