Turia River, Valencia Spain
About the project
The Turia River in Valencia, Spain, underwent an extensive environmental revitalization by BluePlanet Labs, focused on improving the river’s ecological health and water quality. This substantial project was driven by the need to mitigate pollution levels, including Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and significant reductions in E.Coli and fecal bacteria counts. Utilizing their proprietary On-Site Brewing of BluePlanet products, the company implemented a tailored treatment regimen that efficiently tackled these environmental challenges.
The remediation was critical not only for ecological reasons but also because the river is a central element in the cultural and recreational life of Valencia, particularly after the development of the new city around it. The presence of odors and poor water quality had previously threatened to undermine local community interactions and the economic benefits expected from the nearby revitalized Aquarium and Recreational Park. The project’s success was therefore pivotal in supporting the social and economic vitality of the area.
Over a six-month period, BluePlanet Labs methodically applied their treatments across various points along the river. This strategic approach allowed for the gradual improvement of the water quality, effectively eliminating odors and restoring the river to a condition that supports both the community's well-being and the local biodiversity. The transformation was marked by clear, clean water, significantly enhancing the aesthetic and functional value of the river as a cornerstone of urban life in Valencia.
